La Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CSF) no comparte la decisión de suspender provisionalmente de toda actividad relacionada con el fútbol al candidato a la presidencia de la FIFA, Sr. Michel Platini.
Es imperativo que la justicia deportiva siga su curso con la finalidad de esclarecer con prontitud y de forma definitiva todos los hechos. Pero al mismo tiempo la presunción de inocencia es un derecho fundamental que debe ser considerado. El Sr. Platini no ha sido hallado culpable de ninguna acusación por lo que su suspensión provisional pone en riesgo la integridad del proceso electoral a la presidencia de la FIFA del cual participa como candidato. Por este motivo a juicio de la CSF, la suspensión es desproporcionada y extemporánea.
La CSF insta a la reconsideración de la suspensión provisional que se ha impuesto al Sr. Platini y que a éste le sea permitido, sin menoscabar sus derechos como postulante, continuar su candidatura a la presidencia de la FIFA con todas las garantías.
En estos tiempos difíciles que exigen una reforma integral de la FIFA, la CSF cree firmemente en la capacidad del Sr. Platini para dirigir la FIFA y orientar al mundo del fútbol hacia un futuro más brillante.
Mientras continúen las investigaciones y hasta que existan razones claramente acreditadas para modificarla, lo expresado constituye la postura de la CSF.

The Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CSF) does not agree with the decision provisionally banning FIFA presidential candidate Mr. Michel Platini from all football-related activities.
It is imperative that sporting justice continues its course in order to clarify all of the facts as soon and definitely as possible. At the same time the presumption of innocence is a fundamental right that has to be considered. Mr. Platini has not been found guilty of any charge, therefore the provisional ban jeopardizes the integrity of the electoral process to the FIFA presidency, of which Mr. Platini is a candidate. The CSF, considering the above, believes that the ban is untimely and disproportionate.
The CSF urges that the provisional ban imposed upon Mr. Platini be reconsidered, and that Mr. Platini be allowed, with full guarantees and without impairing his rights, to continue as FIFA presidential candidate.
These are trying times that demand an integral reform of FIFA. The CSF fully believes in Mr. Platini’s capacity to lead FIFA and the football world towards a brighter future.
While the investigations remain ongoing, and until there are clearly proven reasons to modify it, the above constitutes CSF’s position.
