The provinces of Guayas and Pichincha were decisive in the development and consolidation of playing football in the Republic of Ecuador. No one could have imagined that when Mr. Juan Alfredo Wright in 1899 brought the first ball it would trigger an unbreakable bond with Ecuadorian citizens.
The great team LDU Quito represents a standard style of Ecuadorian football. In 2008, the club won the Copa Libertadores and prolonged its reign in 2009 by winning the Copa Sudamericana.
Ecuador has taken a big leap in its collective and individual growth with all their teams.
